Greenwich Teen Faces Intimidation, Assault Charges
The suspect is accused of bias because of the "perceived sexual orientation" of the victim, according to Greenwich Police.
A Greenwich teen is facing charges intimidation, threatening and assault after he reportedly got into an argument and fight with another student over the victim's "perceived sexual orientation," according to Greenwich Police.
The incident occurred on Western Junior Highway about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 8, according to the report released on Thursday, Jan. 16.
The student "made bias comments regarding the other juvenile's perceived sexual orientation. The verbal altercation was escalated by the juvenile male when he punched the other male juvenile in the back, shoulder and chest," according to the report.
The victim complained of lower back pain, according to the report.
The 14-year-old suspect, who is a Greenwich resident, was issued a juvenile summons for third-degree assault, intimidation based on bias and bigotry, threatening and disorderly conduct.
He was released into the custody of his mother and was scheduled to appear Jan. 21 in the Juvenile Matters Division of state Superior Court in Stamford.
