Greenwich Teen Found Safe After Town-Wide Alert Issued

Greenwich Police have cancelled the alert for a 19-year-old who went missing and considered "endangered" early Tuesday.

According to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, the teen "with underlying medical issues left his house inappropriately dressed for the weather" was reported missing in the predawn hours Feb. 18. About six hours later, police issued the alert using the reverse 911 system about 9 a.m.

The teen, who has not been identified, was found late Tuesday morning in a vacant mid-country home that is for sale— not far from where the teen lives, Gray said. The teen was subsequently arrested on criminal trespass and criminal mischief charges, Gray said. "There was damage inside the house — there was spray paint damage inside," Gray said.

The teen was taken to Greenwich Hospital for evaluation for possible exposure to weather, Gray said.
