Highway Pursuit Ends in Byram Crash, Minor Injuries

Greenwich police say a car crashed near Doran Avenue and Byram Shore Road following a pursuit from the Tappan Zee Bridge in New York.

Lt. Kraig Gray briefs Patch on an accident that occurred at about 11 a.m. in Byram, near Doran Avenue and Byram Shore Road. According to Greenwich police Capt. James Heavey, a vehicle that had been parked near the Tappan Zee Bridge was suspected of involvement in an earlier accident. A pursuit (not a high-speed chase) of that vehicle by New York state police ended in Greenwich with a two-car crash. The driver of the fleeing vehicle, described by Heavey as "an older male," and the driver of the vehicle he crashed into, each were taken to Stamford Hospital with minor injuries. The driver in the fleeing vehicle may have underlying medical conditions, Heavey said. State transportation officials said the northbound exit ramp at Exit 2 was closed temporarily.
