Illegal U-Turn, Car Crash Mean Drunk DWI Charges for Drivers

Two motorists are facing driving while intoxicated following two separate incidents in Greenwich last weekend.

According to Greenwich Police reports, a 51-year-old man was arrested after he was spotted by an officer making an illegal U-turn on Delavan Avenue at about 10 p.m. Feb. 21, and hitting a parked car.

Timothy L. Grozier, of 25 Leeuwarden Rd., Darien, had a "strong and distinct odor of alcohol emanating from (his) breath and person" while officers investigated the crash. He reportedly failed all field sobriety tests. In addition to the driving while intoxicated charge, he also was cited for illegal U-turn. He was released from police custody after posting a $250 bond. He's scheduled to appear March 7 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich woman was arrested on driving while intoxicated and unsafe movement charges following a car crash on West Putnam Avenue about 9:15 p.m. Feb. 23, according to a police report.

Charlotte S. Fulks, 50, of 65 Byram Terrace, had an odor of alochol and was "unable to successfully perform any of the standardized Field Sobriety Tests," according to a police report.

Fulks was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear March 3 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
