Injured Child Leads to Greenwich Woman's Arrest

The child arrived at school with visible injuries, according to Greenwich Police.

A Greenwich woman is facing a felony charge of risk of injury to a minor after a child showed up at school with "visible injuries."

According to a Greenwich Police report, on April 1 the child "arrived at school in the morning with noticeable injuries as well as complaining of pain from the injuries.
The school staff contacted the Department of Children and Families and the Special Victims Section of the Greenwich Police Department."

The school was not identified by police.

Special Victims detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Alecia Armstead, 34, of 19 Church St. West, with one count of risk of injury to a minor. Armstead was arrested April 7.

She was unable to post $75,000 bond and appeared April 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford. Her bond was reduced to $25,000 but she remains in custody, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website. Her next court date is April 14.
