Man Charged in Byram Park Burglary

Greenwich Police found suspect slept two nights in park pool house.

Greenwich Police say they have arrested a man they suspect broke into the pool house at Byram Park and slept there for two nights.

The suspect, identified as Edward L. Denson, 45, who gave an address of 1616 Washington Blvd., Stamford, was arrested shortly 8:30 a.m. Tuesday when an officer spotted him urinating in the park.

According to the report, "it was determined that Denson forced entry into the pool house ... and had slept there the two previous evenings. Denson also caused damage to the Plexiglass window on the pool house."

Lt. Kraig Gray said that police were initially called to the park shortly after 5 p.m. on Monday after a caretaker discovered the pool house had been burglarized. Various pool chemicals, first-aid kit supplies, a telephone, portable DVD player, light bulbs, magazines and a portable grill were among the items reported missing from the pool house, Gray said.

"Everything that wasn't nailed down, was taken and secretted in trash bags that were found a short distance away," Gray added.

"We believe he (Denson) may have some knowledge of the incident and we are investigating his possible involvement," Gray added.

Denson was charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief in connection with the Tuesday incident. He was released on a written promise to appear Dec. 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
