Man Charged with Attempted Strangulation

A domestic violence incident on West Putnam Avenue Thursday afternoon lead to the arrest of a Mamaroneck, NY man on charges he tried to strangle a woman.
According to a Greenwich Police report, Alex J. Fusco, 19, of 817 Old Post Rd., was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, 3d-degree assault and 2nd-degree strangulation in connection with the incident that began as an argument between the two who were walking along the 600 block of East Putnam Avenue about 1 p.m. The argument stemmed over a cell phone and escalated with the victim being grabbed by the throat. The 21-year-old victim did not require medical treatment, police said.
Fusco was held in lieu of $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Friday in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Boston, MA man whom Greenwich Police say was caught with radar driving 60 mph on North Street about 5 a.m. Friday was arrested on a drunk driving charge.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Scott Travers, 25, was charged by an officer whose patrol car was equipped with radar. The speed limit in the area is 30 mph, according to the report.
Travers had a strong odor of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. He was held in lieu of $500 bond and scheduled to appear May 21 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A man stopped by Greenwich Police because they held an arrest warrant for him was arrested on drug and weapons charges after police said they found a knife in his car and prescription drugs that did not belong to him in his backpack.
Edward F. Myder, 25, who gave an address of 22 Grey Rock Drive, Greenwich, was arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday on charges of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and weapons in a motor vehicle.
He was released on a $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear May 25 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A man who tried to buy a laptop computer with a suspicious credit card was arrested Thursday on attempted larceny and fraudulent credit card charges.
According to a Greenwich Police report, Kareem Harris, 22, of Elmont, NY, was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Thursday when police stopped him on Route 1 because he matched the description of a man who tried to make the purchase at an unidentified Greenwich store. Police also said they found another computer in his car which apparently was purchased in a Stamford store with a fraudulent credit card. Harris told police someone, whose name he could not remember, had given him the card which he threw away after he fled the store.
Harris was charged with criminal attempt at 5th-degree larceny, criminal attempt at illegal use of a credit card, 5th-degree larceny by possession and interfering with police. He was held in lieu of $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear May 27 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
