Man Faces Several Charges for Backcountry Accident; Building Owner Charged with Zoning Violations

A 30-year-old Chicago man has been arrested by Greenwich Police on a variety motor vehicle and criminal charges stemming from a July 26 accident.

Police said Matthew E. Daniele was arrested at a Stanwich Road residence on Aug. 4 on charges of disorderly conduct, 1st-degree criminal trespass, 2nd-degree criminal mischief, evading responsibility and unsafe movement. The charges stem from "Daniele evading the scene of a motor vehicle accident on July 26 and then entering a private residence and vehicle on Taconic Road without permission," according to a police report.

Daniele was released after posting $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend on Florence Road shortly before midnight on Aug. 4 lead to the arrest of the boyfriend.

The 26-year-old man from Stamford admitted to police that during an argument, he pushed the victim in the neck with both hands. Police said the victim had red marks and scratches on her neck.

The man was issued a misdemanor summons for disorderly conduct and released on a promise to appear Aug. 5 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

An Old Greenwich woman who police said ran a stop sign on Shore Road at Sound Beach Avenue ended up being arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge July 30.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Laurie Mcginnis, 54, of 30 Meadowbank Rd., was charged with DWI and failure to obey a stop sign in connection with the 6:30 p.m. incident July 30. Police said Mcginnis had "extremely glassy and bloodshot eyes. There was a distinct odor of alcohol about her person" and that she failed sobriety tests.

She was held in lieu of $500 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The owner of a building at 300 W. Putnam Ave. has been arrested on a variety of zoning violations involving signage and the storage of equipment outside an equipment rental center in the building.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Miguel Luis Ossorio, 73, of Naples, FL, was charged after he surrendered to police about 10 a.m. Aug. 4. He is charged with failure to obtain a permit for signage, impropert display of equpment, and failure to obtain exception for vehicles. Further details were not provided by police.

Ossorio was released on a promise to appear Aug. 9 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
