Man Faces Strangulation, Assault Charges

The 57-year-old was arrested by Greenwich Police following the attack.

 

A 57-year-old man faces assault and strangulation charges following an argument in which a woman was attacked, according to Greenwich Police.

Pedro Lopez, 57, of 353 Delavan Ave., Greenwich, was arrested following the Saturday evening incident at his home.

According to a police report, an argument with a family member over the care of the family dog, turned physical about 7 p.m., April 6. Lopez is accused of grabbing the victim's "throat with his hand and temporarily cut off blood circulation to" the victim's head, according to the report.

Lopez was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was scheduled to appear April 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The victim refused medical treatment, police said.
