Men Face DWI, Assault Charges

Greenwich PD make weekend arrests.

A teen bicyclist was assaulted by a passenger in a car who apparently reached out of the car to punch the cyclist, early Saturday.

According to Greenwich Police, the 16-year-old victim was riding along North Water Street about 12:30 a.m. July 14 when he saw a car was following him closely. Someone from inside the car reached out and punched the cyclist.

Several hours later, police arrested Ronald J. Capeci, 20, of 18 Artic St, Greenwich, on a third-degree assault charge. Capeci was released on a written promise to appear July 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford. The victim was taken to Greenwich Hospital for evaluation, police said.

A Bridgeport man faces a driving while intoxicated charge after police say he was tailgaiting the car in front of him as he drove on North Water Street early Monday.

Gerardo A. Perez, 40, also was charged with following too close and a license classification violation in connection with the incident just before 2 a.m., July 16. According to a Greenwich police report, Perez had glassy, bloodshot eyes, failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test.

He was held in ieu of $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear July 30 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
