Mugging Suspect Faces Car Burglary Charges

Suspect charged with January mugging in Byram now accused of stealing from 3 cars after attack.

A suspect in the January mugging of a Greenwich man as he walked in Byram now faces charges he broke into 3 cars after the attack.

Joey Rodriguez, 19, who gave an address of 70 Purdy Ave., Post Chester, NY, surrendered to Greenwich Police at 2:15 p.m. March 19. According to a Greenwich Police report, Rodriguez is accused of breaking into the cars and including a purse, laptop and a passport on Jan. 26. The thefts occurred just minutes after a man was mugged and robbed his wallet.

Less than an hour after the attack, Rodriguez was arrested on robbery, assault and larceny charges.

On March 19, Rodriguez was charged with 3 counts of third-degree burglary and one count of third-degree larceny. He was released after posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear March 29 in state Suprior Court in Stamford.
