NY Couple Facing Shoplifting Charges in Riverside

A couple from New York State are facing shoplifting charges following an incident at the CVS pharmacy in the Riverside Common shopping center.

The couple  was described as driving away from the 1239 E. Putnam Ave. store in a blue Chevrolet Impala about 4:50 p.m. Jan. 9. Greenwich Police officers spotted the car nearby, according to a police report.

A CVS employee told police that several health, beauty and cosmetic items were stolen.  According to the report, officers found “booster bags” which are used during shoplifting attempts to bypass anti-theft devices. Inside the bags, officers say they found the toiletries and cosmetics for which the couple could not produce a receipt.
