Officer of the Month: Greenwich Cop Who Saved Motorist's Life


Greenwich Police Officer Daniel Hendrie has been named the department's Officer of the Month for July.

According to a statement released by the department, Hendrie rescued and saved the life of a motorist who was involved in a serious car crash in Pawling, NY.

Hendrie, a 12-year department veteran, was walking his dog with his wife on June 19 in Pawling when the crash occurred. "Hendrie immediately went to the aid of the driver who was found to be in traumatic cardiac arrest and entrapped in the vehicle. Despite the risk to himself, Hendrie was able to extricate the driver from the vehicle and beging CPR prior to the arrival of emergency personnel."

According the statement, Hendrie assisted emergency responders until the patient was brought to an area hospital. "Due to Officer Hendrie's actions, the driver survived and is recovering from his injuries."

Hendrie, who also worked for 19 months with the New York City Police Department in the Bronx, was presented the award by Deputy Chief Mark Marino.
