Overweight Truck Leads to Driver's Arrest in Greenwich

A bit overweight going over a bridge — Greenwich Police will catch you.

Greenwich Police stopped a 'box truck' in Cos Cob where the weight limit is four tons this week.

It turns out that the truck was nearly double over the limit of four tons on Indian Field Road, according to a police report. That on top of the fact that officers found four people sitting in the cab of the truck was enough for them to pull over the truck about 8:40 a.m. July 21, according to the report.

The driver, identified through a Guatelmean ID card as Asrael Perez Vasquez, 34, who gave an address of 692 Pacific St., Stamford, was charged with operating under suspension because of a driving while intoxicated charge, failure to obey a signs for a roadway having a bridge and operating a motor vehicle with a crowded front seat.

Vasquez posted a $250 bond and was issued an Aug. 4 date in state Superior Court in Stamford.
