Pair Faces Illegal Credit Card Use Charges at Car Dealership


A pair of men is facing a variety of larceny and identity theft charges after they were accused of using a fraudulent American Express card to purchase parts for a Mercedes Benz.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the men were arrested Feb. 14 after they returned to Mercedes Benz of Greenwich, 261 W. Putnam Ave. to pick up the parts of a 2006 Mercedes CKS500 for which they used a credit card that turned out to be fake when they placed the order a few days earlier. One of the men signed a false name to the credit card receipt.

The men also tried to use the card to make other purchases in the area. 

Danilo J. Vargas, 25, of the Bronx, NY, is facing charges of criminal attempt a third-degree larceny, identity theft, illegal use of a credit card, criminal impersonation, forgery, criminal attempt to receiving goods obtained with the illegal use of a credit card.

Jeriel De Los Angeles, 24, also of the Bronx, was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and conspiracy o receiving goods obtained with the illegal use of a credit card.

According to Greenwich Police, both men have "lengthy criminal history for credit card fraud, criminal impersonation and larcenies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts."

Each was able to post $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 21 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
