Pair of Drunken Driving Arrests

Also, police dog allegedly sniffs out marijuana in New York man's car.

A Stamford resident was arrested Sunday night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Officer James Ruszokowski reported seeing Kenneth M. Myers fail to stop at a stop sign on Valley Road and pulled him over. Ruszkowski said he detected the odor of alcohol while speaking with Myers, and said the suspect admitted he had been drinking.

Myers subsequently failed field sobriety tests, the officer said.

Myers, 43, of 5 Southwest Drive, was also charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

He was released after posting a $500 bond and a given court date of Jan. 31.

Town man Robert Michael Persky was arrested Friday, Jan. 21, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police Officer Krystie Purzycki reported observing a Jeep Wrangler exceeding the speed limit going west on Fairfield Road.

Purzycki stopped the car and said she detected the odor of alcohol while speaking with Persky. She said Persky failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for drunken and traveling unreasonably fast.

Persky, of 55 Zaccheus Mead La., was released after posting a $250 bond, and given a court date of Jan 28.

A town Police Officer driving on Interstate 95 last Friday afternoon , Jan. 21, reported encountering a car traveling southbound above the speed limit and weaving in and out of traffic.

Officer Michael Macchia said he pulled over the car near exit 3 and smelled the odor of marijuana while speaking with the driver.

Macchi said the driver, Eric Hayes, 44, of Nanuet, N.Y., denied having marijuana in his vehicle, but sniffing the exterior of the car, Greenwich police dog Tyro indicated the odor of a controlled substance in the back seat area.

A search of the back seat area resulted in finding 40 grams of marijuana, Macchia said.

Hayes was charged with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and given a court date of Jan. 28.

A resident of the Pemberwick area of town was arrested Sunday night for allegedly getting into an argument with a woman and her daughter in his apartment.

Police were notified at around 10:55 p.m. of an intoxicated male at 30 Arthur St., apt. 2, fighting with other people. Officers said they determined Christopher Weiss, 26, was arguing with the woman, and that her 20-year-old daughter tried to intervene.

They said Weiss grabbed the younger woman by the arm and threw her to the floor. Weiss was found to be very intoxicated and was belligerent with officers on scene, the report of the incident says.

Weiss was charged with disorderly conduct. He was released after posting $500 bond and given a court date of Feb. 7.
