A driver and one of his passengers face a variety of charges after Greenwich Police say they fled the scene of an accident on Hobart Avenue late Thursday.
According to a Greenwich Police report, police were called to 179 Hobart Ave. at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 22 on a report of a car accident. When they arrived they found Alejandro Marquez, 23, who gave an address of 50 Fountain Pl., New Rochelle, NY, in the car. Near the river, police found the driver, Steven Romero, 23, who gave an address of 513 Locust Ave., Port Chester, NY, "covered in mud and hiding in a wooded area," according to the report. Romero reportedly had an odor of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests.
Romero was charged with driving while intoxicated, evading responsibility and unsafe movement and unable to post a $500 bond.
Both are scheduled to appear Sept. 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
