Pedestrian Crash Victim Remains in Critical Condition

Greenwich Police are seeking witnesses to crash that critically injured elderly man.

 

An elderly Greenwich man remains in critical condition days after he was struck by a car while crossing Field Point Road in front of Greenwich Town Hall.

Greenwich Police say they are seeking witnesses to the Oct. 1 incident at the intersection of Field Point Road and Brookside Drive, shortly before 1 p.m.

Eighty-four-old Conrado Velazquez of Old Point Road was struck by a 2007 Acura TSX and knocked to the ground, causing "several life threatening injuries," according to Greenwich Police.

Police say the Acura, whose driver has not been identified, was southbound on Field Point. "At this point in the investigation it is unclear if the pedestrian was in the crosswalk or not," according to a statement released by police.

" ... (the) Acura TSX which was occupied by three people: a female driver, the front passenger was her husband, and a third person in the rear who is employed by the couple," according to the statement. "There were no independent witnesses to the accident located at the scene."

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the vehicle was traveling at a relatively slow speed when it struck the pedestrian," police said. None of the vehicle occupants were injured. No charges have been filed in the case.
