Police Arrest Bronx NY Man For Motor Vehicle Burglaries, ID Theft

Greenwich police picked up Andre Salmon, 29, at Westchester County Jail, in Valhalla N.Y., on a warrant.

A Bronx, NY, man was arrested via warrant on August 31 in connection with a motor vehicle theft and several motor vehicle burglaries that occurred in Greenwich between Sept. 24 and Nov. 26, 2010.

Greenwich police arrested Andre Salmon, 29, at Westchester County Jail, in Valhalla N.Y., where he was being held on fugitive from justice and other charges. He was charged with three counts of third degree burglary, second degree larceny, two counts of identity theft, two counts of receipt of goods from use of a stolen credit card, and two counts of credit card theft.

Police said in addition to stealing a vehicle Salmon broke into several cars in Greenwich and stole credit cards and other items. Police said Salmon is suspected to have obtained thousands of dollars of merchandise from the stolen credit cards. Police said members of the Community Impact Section were able to track and identify Salmon through credit card usage and video surveillance.

Authorities waived extradition for Salmon following his New York court appearance on Aug. 31.

Police said Salmon is also wanted by the Connecticut Department of Adult Probation for probation violations.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior court on September 7.
