Police: Cos Cob Driver in Shock After She's Trapped by Flood Waters in Port Chester

Sunday evening storm created 13-inch-deep river on Midland Avenue.

 

A Cos Cob woman who has a fear of water was left in a state of shock when her car got stuck in flash flood waters that rose on Midland Avenue in Port Chester during Sunday evening's heavy rains, according to Port Chester police.

The 53-year-old driver was in a 2011 Nissan Sentra when at 6:22 p.m. Sunday when her car became stuck in about 13 inches of water near Cottage Street. The driver was assisted by police and emergency medical personnel, who found her crying in the car.

Although the driver was not injured, she was taken to Greewich Hospital for evaluation. Police said they learned the woman has severe fear of water.

There were no other reports of flood-related incidents or damage in Port Chester from Sunday's storm.
