A Greenwich man who police say didn't want to go to work was arrested with his girlfriend on charges they made up a story that he was robbed and slugged in the nose near the Stop and Shop in Glenville.
According to a police report, Juan Cruz, 25, of 21 Melrose Ave., Greenwich, called 911 about 9:15 a.m. March 1 to report that he had been robbed "in the area of Stop and Shop ... that a black man assaulted him and struck him in the nose."
After an hour, the "investigation revealed ... the victim who related that he (had) been assaulted, conspired with his girlfriend and fabricated the entire incident so that he could out of going to work. The reporting party injured his nose the previous night while he was intoxicated and had fallen," according to the report.
The report did not indicate where Cruz is employed or what he does for a living.
Cruz and Adriana Miranda, 19 of 41 Oak St., Port Chester, NY, each were charged with interfering with an officer, second-degree falsely reporting an incident and misuse of 911 system.
They each posted $1,000 bond and are scheduled to appear March 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
