Again on an outlying Sleepy Hollow road, police found a car involved in a car accident but no driver.
An employee of the Department of Environmental Protection contacted police headquarters to report finding a car on Sleepy Hollow Road early in the morning on Jan. 28.
After the 5:21 a.m. call, officers confirmed finding a car off the roadway with airbags deployed, tree struck. The driver was gone.
Police called a towing company to remove the car. And they contacted Phelps Memorial Hospital to see if a driver showed up with injuries related to airbag deployment, but the hospital reported having so such person there.
In December, police received a call of an abandoned pick-up on the side of nearby Bedford Road. This driver had apparently also hit a tree and left on foot.
