Report: Fairfield Man Kills Self in Standoff with Police

Police initially responded to a domestic dispute call at Fairfield Gardens on Saturday.

 

A man killed himself with a shot to the head late Saturday at Fairfield Gardens condominium following a standoff with police, the Connecticut Post reports.

The man, 43, had threatened to kill his girlfriend earlier in the evening, leading to an evacuation of the complex, according to the report.

The woman had escaped the complex and called police around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, after the man had hit her in the head with a gun, according to the Post. 

A single gunshot was heard at about 10:55 p.m. and Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara told the press that the standoff was over at around 11:15 p.m., according to the report.
