Reported Threat Prompts Evacuation at Saint Rose Church [Updated]

Family members of the victims from Friday's shooting were in attendance.

Hundreds of mourners—included family members of those killed in Friday's shooting—were forced to evacuate St. Rose of Lima Church Sunday because of a reported threat.

State police SWAT officers dressed in camoflauge and equipped with full auto rifles formed a loose perimeter around the church and a neighboring building — the parish religious education center — as other officers entered building. They remained inside for about 15 minutes and left without incident.

CNN is reporting that police gave the "all clear" signal that no threat was discovered. Newtown police declined to comment on the incident.

Newtown resident Nick Cavaliere said the church was packed with an estimated 200 people, with people lining the walls during a service. He said a "calm and orderly" evacuation took place when a priest entered and asked everyone to leave because of an anoymous threat.

"I wasn't nervous," said Newtown resident JR Yllanes who was attending a mass at the church. "You have all these people who are there to protect all of us."

God bless those who have lost their own and have peace to those who have died.

I AGREE WITH YOU COMMENTS 100%. PARENTS BUY THEIR KIDS VIDEO GAMES all the game is about is to see how many people they can kill. These kids sit for hours playing these mindless games than the parents wonder how these real killings could happened. How a person can kill all these people in cold blood once they get the chance to play out a seen that they played out for years as a game. But no one is getting back up like they did in the game. That's because this isn't a game. It's murder ! Please don't let your kids play with these violent games. If you really love your kids don't let them waste their time with these games that fill their subconscious with acts of murder. Sincerely, Lorraine

I completely agree as well. I don't have a gun nor have I ever fired one but I FIRMLY BELIEVE in the right to bear arms and the 2nd ammendment. Try putting security at schools. Try putting more focus on improving Mental Health and access to it for people who need it. Don't PAY to go see movies with violence or video games with violence and keep them away from our children. Start demanding that Hollywood stop making movies like this too. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/16/jamie-foxx-connecticut-shooting_n_2310638.html?ir=Entertainment&utm_hp_ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false
