Rocks In Greenwich Road Lead To Arrest

A roundup of weekend motor vehicle arrests in Greenwich.

A "large amount of rock debris" in both lanes of Pemberwick Road early Sunday led Greenwich Police on a path to arrest a town man on charges related to leaving the scene of an accident.

The remnants of the crash—which posed a traffic hazard—were discovered about 2:20 a.m. May 13 by Officer Oliver Doenges, according to a Greenwich Police report. Evidence at the scene indicated a Cadillac was involved. Doenges found a Cadillac with "heavy damage" about a half-mile away from the scene, which was south the Comly Avenue intersection, according to the report.

The operator was identified as Francesco R. Pompa, 45, who gave an address of 50 Quaker Rd., Greenwich. Pompa told police that he was involved in the crash and did not report it to police, according to the report. Pompa was charged with evading responsibility and failure to maintain proper lane. He was released after posting $250 bond and scheduled to appear May 21 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Motorist accused of driving while intoxicated

A motorist who Greenwich Police said drove east in a westbound lane of Delavan Avenue at 1:45 a.m. May 14, was arrested on multiple charges including driving while intoxicated.

Police stopped the driver as he entered the northbound I-95 entrance ramp at Exit 2 after a Department of Motor Vehicle check indicated the car registration was suspended because of a lapsed car insurance, according to a police report. The driver had glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol, and admitted to police he had consumed alcohol before driving, according to the report.

Cameron Warner, 33, who hve an address of 100 Willowbrook Ave., Stamford, also was charged with suspended insurance and failure to maintain lane. He was held in lieu of $250 bond and scheduled to appear May 14 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
