Suspect Nabbed for Riverside CVS Theft

Man charged with theft of $1,200 worth of dental care products.

A man from Orange has been arrested on a fourth-degree larceny charge in connection with the theft of $1,200 worth of dental care products .

Joseph A. Warner, 20, was arrested by Greenwich and Orange police at his home,  469 Derby Milford Rd., Orange, on Tuesday. Greenwich Police had obtained an arrest warrant for Warner after he was identified as a suspect in the Nov. 1 theft.

That heist was one of a pair that Greenwich Police said were pulled off simulataneiously at the CVS pharmacy in the Riverside Commons shopping center, 1239 East Putnam Ave. and at Walgreens Pharmacy, 1333 E. Putnam Ave. In each incident, suspects filled two shopping baskets with various dental care products including power toothbrushes and packages of Crest whitening strips.

Investigating officers said at the time they were hopeful that the suspects were would be identified because of surveillance video provided by the stores. The suspects apparently fled by car, police said, because empty shopping baskets were found on the entrance ramps at Exit 5 of I-95.

Warner was released on a written promise to appear Nov. 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
