Suspected Candy Crook Caught in Greenwich Town Hall


A man with an apparent penchant for candy is accused of swiping a couple packages of sweets from a Greenwich Avenue business and fleeing to the confines of Greenwich Town Hall where he was captured by Greenwich Police.

According to a police report, the suspected shoplifter fled with candy from Grannick's Pharmacy, 277 Greenwich Ave., about 3:45 p.m. Dec. 19. He reportedly ran across The Avenue, through Greenwich Common and Havemeyer Field and into Greenwich Town Hall.

Norriell Ferguson, 37, of Jersey City, NJ, was apprehended in the cafeteria on the basement level of town hall, according to the report.

Ferguson was issued a misdemeanor summons for sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear Dec. 27 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
