Suspects Nabbed in Attempted Burglary and Drunk Driving Incidents

A Port Chester, NY man was arrested on attempted burglary and larceny charges late Saturday by Greenwich Police officers investigating a report of the attempted break-in of two homes on Wilmot Lane.

The suspect, identified as Axel Ramirez, 28, who gave an address of 126 Poningo St., was charged with two counts of criminal attempt at second-degree burglary, a felony; and one count each of third-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace, both misdemeanors.

According to a Greenwich Police report, officers were summoned to Wilmot Lane by a resident who said someone was trying to break into the home. While officers were investigating that complaint, they said they saw a man fitting the description given by the resident, attempting to break into a second home. Ramirez was arrested at about 9:20 p.m.

He was held in lieu of $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Feb. 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Port Chester, NY man whom Greenwich Police say cut off another driver as he tried to enter Interstate 95 from Ritch Avenue in Byram early Saturday was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge.

The driver, identified as Oscar Macau, 25, who gave an address of 45 Washington St., also was charged with failure to maintain lane and making an improper turn, in connection with the 2:15 a.m. incident. According to a police report, officers could smell alcohol in the vehicle and Macau failed field sobriety tests. He was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appear March 7 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A 16-year-old Sound Beach Avenue girl was arrested on disorderly conduct and criminal mischief charges stemming from an argument in her home, according to Greenwich Police.

The dispute was over an unidentified victim taking away the suspect’s cell phone. The victim was pushed by the suspect who also admitted to police to slamming a door several times, causing damage to a wall, at about 8:26 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect was released on a promise to appear Feb. 22 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
