Teen Faces Rape Charge

Greenwich Police charge 17-year-old with a sexual assault that reportedly occurred in a town park.

 

A Stamford teen faces sexual assault charged in connection with the rape of girl in a Greenwich park who reported the incident last September.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the victim went to the department's Special Victim's Section on Sept. 20 and reported she had been sexually assaulted Sept. 8, 2012 "in a Town of Greenwich park during the early morning hours." The park was not identified in the report.

The victim, whose age was not included in the report, identified her attacker as an "out of town juvenile," according to the report.

"Numerous subjects were interviewed" and the investigation lead to police applying for an arrest warrant that was signed on March 19, according to the report.

The 17-year-old suspect from Stamford, who was 16 at the time of the attack, was arrest April 1. The youth was charged with first-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact with a person younger than 16. The arrest warrant ordered that the suspect ordered be held at the Bridgeport Detention Center until his appearance April 16 in the Juvenile Matters Division of State Superior Court in Stamford.
