Thieves Target Vehicles in Western Greenwich

Thieves who pilfer items and loose change left in cars struck the King Merritt Acres development off King Street this week.

According to Greenwich Police, five vehicles were targeted by the sticky-fingered thiefs who took spare change found in vehicles parked on South Stonehedge and South Bowman drives, off King Street.

"All of the vehicles were unlocked. None were damaged. Spare change was taken," said police spokesman, Lt. Kraig Gray. All of the thefts were reported Sept. 25 and apparently occurred overnight.

There also was a similar theft reported by a Glen Ridge Road resident, Gray said.

There have been dozens of similar thefts throughout Greenwich during the summer, prompting police to alert residents to keep their cars locked at all times even when they're parked in owners' driveways.
