Town Man Faces Assault Weapon Possession Charges

Greenwich Police say they arrested 2 residents on gun possession charges including on who had cache of assault weapons in his home.

Two Greenwich residents have been arrested on gun possession charges, stemming from two separate incidents.

A Greenwich man faces multiple weapons possession charges after Greenwich Police discovered a cache of weapons in his home.

According to a Greenwich Police report, police obtained an arrest warrant charging Thomas F. Belluci, 50, of 68 Cutler Rd., with 19 counts of possession of an assault weapon. The police investigation began when a neighbor called police to report hearing what he thought were gunshots back on Aug. 22, 2011.

"The investigation at the residence resulted in a large cache of weapons being seized from the residence," according to the report.

Belluci surrendered to police on Aug. 4. He was released after posting $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 13 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

The second man also was arrested Aug. 4, after Greenwich Police received reports shortly after midnight that a man was walking downtown along Arch Street, carrying a handgun.

Lawrence S. Futie, 49, of 68 Arch St., Greenwich, was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and second-degree breach of peace in connection with the incident.

He was released on a promise to appear Aug. 13 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
