Town Man Faces DWI Charge After Crash

Arrest stems after Pemberwick man hits tree.

Greenwich Police say a Pemberwick man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge after he struck a tree and a parked car, just doors away from his Halock Drive home.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Daniel J. Bria, 23, who gave an address of 38 Halock Dr., Greenwich, was arrested shortly after 12:30 a.m. May 27. Police investigating a report of a crash on Halock Drive found Bria outside his home along with his car which was damaged and had grass, dirt and tree bark on it, according to the report.

Bria, who admitted to being involved in the accident, failed sobriety tests. He was charged with DWI, evading responsibility and unsafe movement. He was released after posting $250 bond and is scheduled to appeawr June 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Stamford man, whom Greenwich Police say was seen swerving in an eastbound lane of East Putnam Avenue, was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge shortly before 1:30 a.m., May 28.

According to a police report, Jack Leiva, 41, who gave an address of 36 Fourth St., Stamford, "had bloodshot eyes and delayed motor skills" and failed sobriety tests, after he was stopped on East Putnam, near Holly Hill Lane.. He was released after posting $260 bond and scheduled to appear June 11 in state Superior in Stamford.
