Operations to upright the overturned tractor trailer on Hamilton Avenue continue as more heavy duty wreckers are arriving on the scene, according to Greenwich emergency radio dispatches.

The operations have been complicated since workers discovered that one side of the trailer is split open and they are unsure if the load inside has been compromised.

Original story:

A tractor trailer traveling on Hamilton Avenue near Bimbo Bakeries on Hamilton Avenue overturned about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, shutting down the road.

According to Greenwich Police Department spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, no one was injured when the truck rolled over onto its side.

Several heavy duty wreckers have been dispatched to the scene, adjacent to the Armstrong Court housing complex and the Metro-North Railroad overpass. Hamilton Avenue is closed to all traffic between the bakery, 10 Hamilton Ave. and Byram Park on Ritch Avenue, just off Exit 2 of the Connecticut Turnpike.

"This should definitely impact any rush hour traffic in the area and we urge anyone traveling in that area to stay away," Gray said.

According to police and fire radio dispatches about 4:10 p.m., the road will be closed for at least an hour.
