Trading Family's 9mm for Pot Yields a Greenwich Arrest

A Greenwich man faces firearm theft and larceny charges after he "sold a family-owned firearm in exchange for marijuana," according to Greenwich Police.

According to a police report, Michael D. Burke, 22, of 29 Hettiefred Rd., surrendered Aug. 5 to police who obtained an arrest warrant charging him in connection with the theft reported Nov. 18, 2012.

Burke was charged with fourth-degree larceny and theft of a firearm. Police Lt. Kraig Gray said police recovered the 9mm Smith & Wesson. Police did not say how much marijuana Burke allegedly received for the weapon.

Burke was released on a promise to appear Aug. 6 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
