Updated at 12:45 p.m., June 17:

Here is the statement from Dana Evans' attorney, Mark Sherman of Stamford.

"After seeking counseling at a local domestic violence center, Dana reported the incident to the Greenwich Police. Obviously divorces can get emotional and we expect Dana to be cleared of these charges in due time. The safety, privacy and welfare of her family continue to be her primary concern," Sherman said.

A spokesperson from WABC-TV—Channel 7 in New York where Bill Evans has been a meteorologist since 1989, said in a statement, “We don’t comment on personal matters involving our employees. We are reviewing the situation and have no further comment at this time.”

Here is the statement from Bill Evans' attorney Philip Russell of Greenwich, regarding Evans' arrest on domestic violence-related charges.

"Bill was summoned to the Greenwich Police on the afternoon of June 13 and was released on a promise to return to court on Tuesday to answer charges of Misdemeanor Assault and Disorderly Conduct. The charges arose from an incident on May 4, 2013 in his home between Bill (and his) wife of 19 years, Dana.

"Bill and Dana are presently going through a difficult divorce. Our understanding is that on May 20, more than two weeks after an argument, Dana was advised by her divorce attorneys to file the complaint which led to the Police Investigation.

"Bill cooperated fully with the investigation and is continuing to cooperate with the police.

"Connecticut law requires that the Police refer all reports of domestic arguments, no matter how minor, to the Superior Court, and the Greenwich Police actions Thursday were required by law.

"We expect that Bill will be exonerated and this case will be quickly forgotten. The Greenwich Police have informed us their investigation is continuing and we will see this process through until Bill's name is cleared."
