Western Middle School Student Reports 'Stranger Incident'

Updated, May 4, 11 a.m.:

Western Middle School parents received email notification of the 'stranger incident' about 9 p.m. Friday, May 3. The message was the same notice Greenwich Public School administrators received earlier in the day. That message can be viewed below.

Original story:
Greenwich Police are investigating a "stranger incident" involving a Western Middle School student" Friday morning, according to police and school officials

When asked for information about the report that a man tried to lure a female student as she walked on West Putnam Avenue enroute to school, spokeswoman Kim Eves wrote in an email that the following message was sent administrators:

"The student is safe and unharmed. In speaking with the GPD, they have not confirmed any violations at this point. All reports such as this are taken seriously and the investigation is continuing.

"Parents should be reminded to speak to their children about Stranger Danger - if approached by a stranger, walk or run away and report the incident immediately to the nearest trusted adult."

Students and parents apparently were not notified of the incident that was reported to police about shortly before 8 a.m. May 3.

Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray confirmed an incident had been reported and that it is under investigation.
