A Greenwich man put a new meaning to that phrase 'Where's the beef?'

A 46-year-old is facing a larceny charge after he was accused of swiping a steak and stuffing it in his sweatpants at the Whole Foods market on Sunday afternoon.

According to a Greenwich Police report, the suspect was seen ordering a rib-eye steak from the store's butcher's department shortly after 4 p.m. Jan. 5. He "was observed within the store by an employee, concealing the meat within the rear area of his sweatpants and leaving the store without paying for it," according to the report.

Harold Otto, of 40 W. Elm St., was "located in the area a short time later." He was charged with sixth-degree larceny. He was released on a promise to appear Jan. 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Lt. Robert Berry said it wasn't known what happened with the evidence.

This story is an absolute hoax. The police don't release photos of suspects posing in front of charity posters. I can't believe that some people would even find this amusing in Greenwich. Nothing about what's being reported makes one iota of sense.
