Without Wheels in Greenwich - Literally

Old Greenwich resident discovers wheels and tires stolen from his car.

A resident of The Gables condominium complex on Forest Avenue in Old Greenwich discovered he didn't have any wheels — literally.

The theft of all four tires and wheels from his 2010 Honda Accord was reported shortly before 2 p.m. Dec. 28. According to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray, the theft occurred "within the previous 24 hours." The car was parked in the lower level of a parking garage in the complex, 51 Forest Ave.

The wheel-loving thieves apparently used a jack to prop up the car to steal the wheels, tires and lug nuts — valued at about $2,000 — before leaving the car sitting atop a yellow Igloo cooler and a 5-gallon bucket of paint. Gray said it appeared that the car brakes and rotors also were damaged in the incident.
