Woman Allegedly Stiffed Cab Driver on $50 Fare

Greenwich Police reports for Feb. 19

Clare Ettinger, 53, of Hastings on Hudson, NY, was arrested and charged with sixth degree larceny on Tuesday, Feb. 19, after she allegedly stiffed a cab driver over an approximately $50 fare.

Police said the cab driver reported that he had picked up Ettinger at the Greenwich Train Station and that she asked to be driven to a friend's house in the Byram area.

Unable to locate her friend's house, Ettinger then asked the cab driver to bring her to the supermarket, where she would withdraw funds to pay the fare.

However after they arrived at the supermarket, Ettinger informed that cab driver that she did not have funds to pay the fare.

Police said Ettinger admitted she had entered the cab knowing that she did not have the funds to pay for it. She is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27.

June Dudley, 32, of Wilbur Peck Court was arrested via warrant and charged with failure to appear in court on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Police said Dudley turned herself in upon learning of the warrant. The failure to appear charge relates to her arrest in January for fifth degree larceny in Stamford, police said.

Dudley posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.
