Women Face Charges After Teen is Injured

Two women have been arrested by Greenwich Police in connection with an incident that left a 13-year-old suffering from cuts.

According to a police report, police were called to a Sherman Avenue residence about 11 p.m. June 23, for a domestic dispute. Officers found that the juvenile had been acting “out of control” and that one of the suspects  struck the teen with an electrical cord causing cuts on her back and legs, according to the report.

Maria A. Carneiro, 45, of Sherman Avenue, Greenwich, was charged risk of  injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and conspiracy to commit third-degree assault. She was released after posting a $1,000 bond. Also charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny was Maria L.H. Carneiro, 40, also of Sherman Avenue. She was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford. Both women were given June 24 court dates.

The teen was treated and released from Greenwich Hospital, according to police Lt. Kraig Gray
