Women Face Charges Stemming from Shoplifting, Domestic Violences Cases

Greenwich Police make 5 arrests.

A Greenwich woman was issued a misdemeanor summons charging her with sixth-degree larceny stemming from a shoplifting incident at the Whole Foods market on Saturday.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Nora Thubert, 39, who gave an address of 24 Putnam Green, was arrested shortly after 6:30 p.m., Jan. 14, after the store manager said the woman was seen in a surveillance video placing items valued at $31 into a Whole Foods bag and leaving the store without paying for them.

She was issued the summons and ordered to appear Jan. 23 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Greenwich Police arrested a town woman on a violation of probation charge stemming a domestic violence case dating back to March 2011.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Donna Patafio, 34, who gave an address of 20 Livingston Pl., was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 13 by officers who had an arrest warrant charging her with violation of probation related to her previous arrest on disorderly conduct and violation of a protective order.

She was held on $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 20 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police investigating a car crash on Stanwich Road Friday evening ended up arresting a motorist on charges of operating without a license and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Jose C. Barrera, 59, who gave an address of 262 Madison Ave., Port Chester, NY, was charged about 5:15 p.m., Jan. 13, in connection with the crash in the 200 block of Stanwich Road. The report did not indicate whether there were any injuries.

Barrera did not have a current driver's license and "was driving under suspension from a previous traffic offense," according to the report. He was held in lieu of $1,000 bond. Court date information was not provided by police.

A Greenwich woman was arrested on domestic violence-related charges on Friday afternoon.

According to a Greenwich Police report, Gail Frederick, 59, who gave an address of 14 Sherman Ave., Greenwich, was arrested shortly after 3 p.m., Jan. 13 on second-degree harassment and threatening charges, stemming from "a domestic incident via the telephone."

Her bond was set at $500 and she was scheduled to appear Jan. 17 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

A Greenwich man was arrested on a charge he failed to appear in court in 2009 on motor vehicle-related charges.

Mendim Zhuta, 29, who gave an address of 8 Weaver St., Greenwich arrested at 2 p.m., Jan. 12. He is charged with second-degree failure to appear in court in April 2009 to answer charges of following too close, operating with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance.

Zhuta was released after posting $500 bond and scheduled to appear Jan. 20 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
