Appelbaum: "Smart, Wise, Focused and Visionary"

To the Editor:

Oprah Winfrey once said, “When ordinary people do extraordinary things, they transform their lives and the lives of those around them.”  When I listen to these powerful words I see, I hear, I think Debbie Appelbaum, Democratic Candidate for the Board of Education.

Debbie is smart, wise, focused and visionary.  For the past 22 years she has been a significant presence in Greenwich, working especially hard on behalf of all our children and families. I have been honored to volunteer with Debbie particularly at the Junior League of Greenwich where she developed Partnership in Education for the Hamilton Avenue School, a project specifically created to address family literacy needs.  Over its 10 plus years of service the program has touched nearly 1200 children and their extended families by providing volunteers for one on one reading time and books on tape.

I was then and continue now to be impressed by Debbie’s passion and compassion as well as her ability to build consensus.  She listens and she hears everyone on all sides.  I have seen first hand how she works and can attest to her integrity, honesty and deep rooted commitment to everything she does.

Debbie Appelbaum has been a great asset to the Greenwich community, and she will accomplish even more for us if elected to the Board of Education.  I urge everyone to vote on Tuesday, November 5th.  It is our right, our privilege and our responsibility.  I urge everyone to vote for Debbie Appelbaum.

Sincerely,

Susan Wohlforth
