Greenwich Retirees Honored

With more than 150 years of experience behind them, town employees retire.

 

With co-workers and family filling the Town Hall Meeting Room Tuesday morning, a half-dozen Greenwich town employees were honored for their service, marking their retirements from municipal service.

First Selectman Peter Tesei and Greenwich Human Resources Director Mary Pepe lead the ceremony which featured a presentation of plaques to the workers, followed by a reception.

Cumulatively, the six workers marked 159 years of employment with the town.

  • Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Joseph Benoit: 38.5 years of service.
  • Police Officer Peter Silbereisen: 29.5 years of service.
  • Nursing Assistant Lorna Thomas: 26 years of service.
  • Recreation Superintendent Peter Mandras: 34 years of service.
  • Carpenter Errol King: 29 years of service.
  • Social Services Aide Lena Edwards: 12 years of service.
