Sign up to vote
The , in conjunction with the , will have a voter registration session at tomorrow, Thursday, May 3.
Students can register in the student center between 10 am and 1pm. Photo ID is recommended, but not required.
Democratic Registrar of Voters Sharon Vecchiolla said of the registration session, "Students find it difficult to register while away at college, the military, or while working. Young people are more likely to vote if they register before they leave high school. We hope many students take advantage of this chance to be registered and ready for the next election."
The registrars may register students who are under 18 as long as they will be 18 before the Nov. 6 presidential election.
In addition, the registrars will be giving out a limited number of entries into a drawing for a “Rock the Vote prize pack,” which includes an Apple iPad and a $100 American Express gift card.

Speaking of politics
The delegates to the Democratic State Convention of 2012 from 36th state Senate district have re-elected Elizabeth K. Krumeich and her husband Edward T. Krumeich II to serve as the committeemen from the district which includes Greenwich, part of New Canaan and part of Stamford.
The Krumeichs, long-time Democratic party members, will serve the Connecticut Democratic State Central Committee at its May 12 convention in New Britain.
Edward Krumeich is a partner with the firm Ivey Barnum & O’Mara, and has served on the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET) for 14 years, and has run twice for state representative of the 151st District.
Elizabeth Krumeich served as a co-vice chair of the for six years. She is an in-house counsel with an international financial services company, who also has served as president of the , and as a co-president of the PTA.
The delegates also elected Glen Canner, vice chair of the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee, to serve on the Rules and Resolutions Committee; Mark Diamond, a former candidate for State Senate in the 36th District, to serve on the Credentials Committee; and Christine Edwards, a realtor and member of the Greenwich Democratic Town Committee, to serve on the Permanent Organization Committee. Greenwich Selectman Drew Marzullo was named honorary vice president, and Nicholas Mitrakis, a member of the New Canaan Democratic Town Committee, was selected as honorary secretary for the state convention.
Greenwich Youth Film Festival Winners Announced
The has announced the winners of its inaugural Greenwich Youth Film Festival (GYFF) held last weekend at the Cole Auditorium in the .
The films of all of the finalists were shown and the winners of each category, along with one grand prize winner were announced. Each genre winner received $500 with the grand prizewinner receiving an additional $1,500 and an all-expense paid trip to visit the set of the next Two Ton Films production, judge Clay Percorin’s production company.
In addition to Pecorin who judged documentaries, the other judges were Ron Howard for Creative, Gretchen Carlson for Public Service Announcement, Blue Sky Studios for Animation and Jeff Cardoni for Music Video.
The winners were:
- Animation: Patrick McCabe of Westlake High School;
- Creative: Ben Adler*, Briarcliff High School;
- Documentary: Caroline Kelly, Convent of the Sacred Heart;
- Music Video: Gemma Gamberdene, Wilton High School;
- Sheila Moran and Gabriela Lopez, Convent of the Sacred Heart.
