First Selectman discusses upcoming issues facing Greenwich.

Today Greenwich Patch unveils a new column – "Greenwich Outlook: Town Talk with the First Selectman" — which features Peter Tesei discussing upcoming issues, programs and events of importance to town residents.

This week begins with the March meeting of the Representative Town Meeting Monday evening and there probably will be plenty of discussion – on appointments and whether a citizens’ petition to limit town spending should be brought to the floor. The RTM is to vote on several appointments to the Planning and Zoning Board, the Board of Social Services and the most controversial – whether Old Greenwich resident and radio personality Gary Dell’Abate should serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Dell’Abate – known as "" on the Howard Stern radio show – has become a lightning rod with opponents saying Stern’s on-air antics raise moral conflicts. Dell’Abate supporters say his work with youth football leagues and support of community organizations should outweigh his professional work.

The other issue expected to be raised is whether a seeking to impose a 1 percent increase spending limit on the town’s proposed $356 million budget for 2011-12, should be brought before the legislative body. Several RTM committees including the Budget Overview Committee have rejected the request.
