Walko was among 8 other Republican freshmen who vowed to serve their districts over a two-year term. In a prepared statement, Walko said he is committed to reducing the expense of government which was a hallmark of his tenure as Chairman of Greenwich’s Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET).

“Greenwich is known for its efficient use of taxpayer funds and I would like to bring more of that same Greenwich thinking to Hartford,” said Walko, a former long-time BET member, including four as chairman.
