Greenwich Equestrian Estate Sells for $14 Million

The 10-acre 'Oldfield' property is described as "one of those rare jewels you'll find once in a lifetime."

It was called Oldfield and is described as "the site of the original polo fields in Greenwich ... (where) white board fences border the property with its lovely winding allee of trees leading to the stone paved courtyard with a fountain."

That's the description provided by priceypads.com for the 10-acre property — comprised of five separate lots at 160 John St. in Greenwich's backcountry — has been sold. The main house is described as a Colonial built in 1990 that's just shy of 15,000 square feet, according to Greenwich land records.

In a video tour of the property, it is described as "one of those rare jewels that you'll find once in a lifetime," according to one realtor's video tour.

Last year the property was listed at $28.5 million and according to Greenwich Tax Assessor records, it was sold June 19 for a total of $14,199,997.

As visitors approach the mainhouse with its eight bedrooms, 11 baths, six half-baths, there is a large fountain. The two-story center hall with limestone floors has an elegant curved stairway leading to a balcony overlooking the entry. There's also a stable that can for up to 39 horses, a wine cellar, indoor basketball court and workout center, a pool and tennis court.
