Greenwich Residents React to Redistricting Options

Here is a roundup of comments on Greenwich Patch's social media accounts relating to the Greenwich Public Schools' redistricting options.

The options outlined at at a pubic meeting on June 6th by consultants Milone & MacBroom – full redistricting, district-wide choice, partial magnet schools, and reconfiguration – were summarized on Greenwich Patch on June 10th in, "A Look at Greenwich's Redistricting Options."

  • Alex Delev The only option to pursue is to SUE!!!! June 10 at 5:11pm

  • Leslie S. Gueguen I'm no longer there, though my child attends private school and camp in Greenwich. I'm wondering if the plan might include a provision for siblings of children who are already attending a particular elementary school that would allow them to attend the same. I feel sorry for people who bought homes in one school district whose kids will be shifted to another. This happened in 1967 when I was moved from North Street to Julian Curtiss, and I can tell you my parents didn't like it. June 10 at 5:16pm

  • Sharon Quinn Beasley Option #5: Sue The State of CT & Save the $ that would be needed for bus transportation if redistricting were to happen, then invest that $ into the schools that desperately need facility expansion & resources. June 10 at 5:30pm

  • Alex Delev #1. Remove all non residents June 10 at 5:45pm

  • Alex Delev #2. Lottery spaces that are free at all Elementary schools for overcrowded schools. Problem solved. June 10 at 5:47pm

  • Jennifer Oberbeck Sisca I think they need to look at what constitutes "racial imbalance." My children are Italian, Polish, Scottish and Irish ... Why aren't those minority races treated the same as others? June 10 at 7:08pm

  • Suzanne Carobene Magnotta Yes, get the non residents out of the schools. Why is it so easy for them to fool the town of Greenwich on their home address? June 10 at 7:12pm

  • Alex Delev Because its harder to get a beach pass in Greenwich then get a child registered in school. They check in K then 9. We spend $30,000 a year per child. If someone is caught they should be forced to pay restitution in back tuition. But thats not PC so instead lets bus our kids 45 minutes away, hide everything else under the carpet and make Hartford happy. June 10 at 10:44pm

#Greenwich—Tell @GreenwichPatch which redistricting option(s) do you want the Greenwich Board of Education to pursue?

  2. Alexandra Delev @baddog32410 Jun @GreenwichPatch why would you ask this as if they are options? You must not be from here or have a child in the greenwich schools
