Summer is not the time to stop reading. It’s the time to read for pure pleasure. Book Club at GEG is child lead, ability and age appropriate, and seeks to unlock the life-long reader in your child.
Younger children will be assessed and provided with books that speak to their personal interests and help them strive to reading levels just past their comfort zone. They’ll be guided in vocabulary acquisition and taught early comprehension strategies.
Established readers will learn to reinforce comprehension strategies, always keeping in sight that we read for meaning. The goal isn’t to understand just the book they’re currently reading. It’s to learn to make meaning from any and all text they’ll encounter. Grades 1-3. Mon-Wed-Fri
