ISD Enrollment Information Session

Families interested in applying to The International School at Dundee (ISD) for the 2012-13 academic year are invited to attend an informational session detailing ISD’s International Baccalaureate Programme curriculum and application procedures and deadlines. The hour-long session, which is scheduled for Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 7:00pm, in the ISD Media Center, will be held at ISD, located at 55 Florence Road in Riverside, CT. (NOTE: snow date is Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at 7:00pm.)

According to Teresa Ricci, ISD principal, “Studies have shown a strong correlation between what the International Baccalaureate program offers and what experts have identified as 21st century skills.”

The International Baccalaureate’s trans-disciplinary approach to teaching incorporates skills with concepts that cross all disciplines to develop an educated, whole person.  This approach also includes the teaching of character profiles, community service and the teaching of a foreign language.

Spanish is taught at ISD starting in kindergarten.  ISD’s curriculum content also is enriched with grade-specific partnerships with cultural institutions, such as the United Nations, The Greenwich Audubon Center and The Guggenheim Museum, which are incorporated into the curriculum, starting in kindergarten and running through fifth grade.

The International School at Dundee was authorized in July of 2003 as an official International Baccalaureate school.  ISD is one of only 181 IB Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) authorized schools in the U.S, and one of only a few public elementary schools in Connecticut to receive the IBPYP accreditation.  ISD offers programs for students from kindergarten through fifth grade.
